The AFL pre-season is getting closer with tickets for the NAB Cup matches at Metricon Stadium now on sale.
See three big teams in one huge night of AFL when the Gold Coast SUNS, Brisbane Lions and Melbourne all meet on Saturday, February 25 from 6.10pm. The first round of the 2012 NAB Cup provides a great night out with teams playing two, twenty minute halves in a triangular format.
One week later, the GC SUNS host Geelong on Friday, March 2 at 7.40pm in a regular format match.
Tickets are on sale now from Ticketmaster for both events. Kids under 15 years are free* for tickets brought in advance.
CAR
Please note that there will be no public parking available at Metricon Stadium for NAB Cup games and parking restrictions will be enforced on roads surrounding the stadium. Valid parking permits are required to access Metricon Stadium’s car parks, without these permits vehicles will be refused entry. Permits are not available for purchase by the public.
All permit holders are advised to refer to stadium precinct map for specific location of Metricon Stadium car parks or on the reverse side of their parking permit.
A limited number of PWD (persons with a disability) parking spaces are available at Metricon Stadium, however these must be booked in advance through Metricon Stadium Management on (07) 5644 6200 or info@metriconstadium.com.au between 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. PWD Car Park bookings for the NAB Cup games can be made from Monday 13 February 2012.
There will be no parking on roadways within the designated Traffic Management Area on event days and any vehicles not abiding by these restrictions can and will be towed away.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT
Travel Free with TransLink
Passengers in possession of a valid event ticket will Travel Free with TransLink to and from the event on scheduled Surfside bus and Queensland Rail train services (conditions apply).
Please note that you must be in possession of your valid event ticket prior to travelling on TransLink services in order to gain free access to public transport. If you have selected the venue collection option you can pick your tickets up before the event day from any Ticketmaster agency.
Event tickets purchased at the Metricon Stadium box office on event days are only valid for free post-event travel on Surfside and Queensland Rail services.
Boowaggan Road Park ‘n’ Ride

Metricon Stadium offers patrons a Park ‘n’ Ride facility on Boowaggan Road, Merrimac. The car park opens approximately 1½ hrs prior to the centre bounce and will close approximately 1 hour after the final siren. Please note that there is limited parking available at Boowaggan Road Park ‘n’ Ride facility.
Shuttles Bus Times:
To Metricon Stadium: 4.40pm – 6.30pm (20 mins after start of first game)
From Metricon Stadium: From final siren for 1 hour.
Train
Patrons in possession of a valid ticket can catch regular Queensland Rail train services from any station on the Gold Coast line to Nerang station then board a free event shuttle service to Metricon Stadium from the eastern side of Nerang station or walk to the stadium (approx. 2.4kms).
Please note that you can park at other Queensland Rail stations (Helensvale, Coomera, Beenleigh etc.) and catch the train to Nerang. Return shuttle services will operate from Metricon Stadium back to Nerang Station.
Please note there is NO PARKING at Nerang Station (Drop off only).

Bus
Patrons in possession of a valid event ticket can catch any regular Surfside bus service to one of the shuttle bus locations, then board a free event shuttle service to Metricon Stadium.

If looking to book accommodation close to transport it is recommended to look in the Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise area. Patrons staying in Surfers Paradise can catch a regular Surfside Bus service to Broadbeach and then utilise the free shuttle bus from this location.

Return Transport Options
Return event shuttle buses run from Metricon Stadium to Nerang station, Victoria Park and Boowaggan Road Park ‘n’ Ride.
All return services commence at the Final Siren and run for 1 hour.

OTHER TRANSPORT OPTIONS
Drop Off & Pick Up
A drop off & pick up point is located on the eastern side of Birmingham Road outside Emmanuel College which is approximately a 900m walk to Metricon Stadium.
Boowaggan Road Park ‘n’ Ride, Victoria Park (Broadbeach) and Nerang Station are also drop off & pick up locations. Patrons in possession of a valid event ticket can then board one of the free event shuttle services to Metricon Stadium.
Coach & Mini Bus Parking
A limited number of coach parking spaces are available in the Blue Car Park at Metricon Stadium, however these must be booked in advance through Metricon Stadium Management.

Please note that the Metricon Stadium Bus Hub is for TransLink event shuttle buses only.
Taxi
A designated taxi rank will operate in the Blue Car Park opposite Metricon Stadium (on Nerang-Broadbeach Road). Taxis will be permitted to drop off and pick up passengers at this location only.
Limousines
Hire vehicles (limousines) holding an L or HC Licence Plate are permitted to drop off & pick up at Metricon Stadium in the Red Car Park outside Gate 5.
Limousines who intend to re-enter the car park to collect their guests at the end of the game are required to collect a limousine re-entry pass on exit of the Red Car Park.
All other forms of hire transport are to use the Birmingham Rd Drop-Off & Pick Up point.
Private Parking Operators
There are a number of private operators that offer paid car parking in close proximity to the stadium. These parking options are privately run and are not associated with Metricon Stadium.
RETURN TRANSPORT OPTIONS
